The top two Premier League teams in England are taking center stage with the first trophy of 2026-27 up for grabs.
Arsenal and Manchester City will clash in the 2026 FA Community Shield, England's version of the Super Cup that is played in other premier domestic leagues.
The Community Shield pits the reigning Premier League champions and FA Cup winners against one another. Arsenal is the former, with Manchester City the latter.
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal is not too dissimilar from last season. Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle is their marquee move thus far, while Christos Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge to replace Leandro Trossard on the left wing. Trossard moved to Besiktas in Turkey.
The Citizens, meanwhile, have undergone several changes thus far. Long-time head coach Pep Guardiola exited after 10 years, with midfielder Bernardo Silva leaving on a free transfer to Real Madrid. Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner, is nursing a back injury and is heavily linked to join Silva in Spain, albeit with Barcelona.
Enzo Maresca, a former City assistant coach who left his manager role at Chelsea midseason last year, took over for Guardiola.

Arsenal-Manchester City Community Shield squad news
For Arsenal, star defenders William Saliba and Jurrien Timber will be out due to respective injuries. Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice have returned to training, but it is unclear if either will suit up having played in the World Cup with injuries.
New signing Guimaraes played in the second half of Wednesday's friendly vs. Como and could start alongside Martin Odegaard and Myles Lewis-Skelly in midfield.
For City, Rodri is the lone guaranteed absentee with a back injury. Erling Haaland and new signing Elliott Anderson recently joined training, so they may only come off the bench.
Antoine Semenyo, Phil Foden and Omar Marmoush will likely lead the attack, the latter recently scoring a preseason brace vs. Atletico Madrid.
