Marcus Rashford is still keen to find an escape route from Manchester United. But Rashford might have to go abroad again - because his hopes of remaining in the Premier League look slim.
Rashford has returned to pre-season training at Carrington following his summer break after the World Cup. He is planning to hold talks with manager Michael Carrick once the squad returns from its commitments in Dublin. But Rashford's immediate future remains unclear and complicated.
Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains keen to get Rashford off the club's wage bill. But he is not willing to sell the England forward to main rivals Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester City.
While loan deals with the likes of Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham have been ruled out. Because if Rashford was to help any of these clubs finish in the Champions League places this coming season, it would prove embarrassing to United bosses.

It's understood Rashford would prefer to find a new club - and continue to revive his career elsewhere. He has the option of running down the remaining 24 months of his United deal, and leaving Old Trafford for nothing in 2028.
He could also use the next campaign to put himself in the shop window in the hope of securing a dream move in 2027 - assuming someone will pay.
He believes there has been too much bad blood between him and his hometown club. And he knows there is still time in the summer window for him to negotiate a deal with someone else which suits him.
Rashford, 28, had been hoping to make his loan deal with Barcelona permanent, but the Spanish giants rejected the option to sign him for £24m, opting to sign Anthony Gordon instead.
United, meanwhile are considering opening talks with Club Brugge about a potential £30m deal for left back Joaquin Seys.
United have been priced out of a move for England and Newcastle defender Lewis Hall, and could turn their attentions to Seys instead.
