Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah is set for a mega payday after he joined Turkish outfit Trabzonspor on a permanent deal. The Egypt international has made a move to the Turkish side as a free agent, having left Anfield at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Trabzonspor have detailed exactly what Salah is set to earn at their club following his transfer this summer. The 34-year-old will earn €17 million a year, surpassing Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen as the league's best-paid player for this year.

Of the above amount, €7 million is earmarked as a signing-on fee, while his annual salary would be €10 million. At £280,000 on a weekly basis, this is less than what he earned as his base salary in his last contract while on the books of Liverpool.

Trabzonspor have, however, sweetened the deal for the former Chelsea man by offering performance-related bonuses throughout the length of his contract. He will also receive a 20% share of revenue from any merchandise sold by the club with his name on it during his time there. Similarly, local mayor Hüseyin Avni Coşkun Çebi appeared to offer the forward a parcel of land in the Black Sea region after his arrival.

Mohamed Salah had multiple suitors after he decided to leave Liverpool with a year remaining on his contract with the Reds. He decided to remain in Europe and was in talks with Besiktas, but a move never came to pass. He has instead joined Trabzonspor on a two-year deal and will wear the number 61 shirt at the club.

Trabzonspor have landed Mohamed Salah after the forward's hugely impressive spells in the colours of Liverpool. He made 442 appearances for the Reds, scoring 257 goals and winning every available trophy, except for the UEFA Europa League.

In Türkiye, Trabzonspor are the only side not based in Istanbul to lift the league title, with their last such triumph coming in 2022. They finished in third place last season and are set for a Europa League playoff to determine if they make it into the league phase or play in the UEFA Conference League.

Salah will team up with the likes of Andre Onana and Paul Onuachu, fellow Africans who have played in the English Premier League, in Trabzon. They will hope to deliver more silverware to the club this season, having won the Turkish Cup last season. Back in England, Liverpool are still in the market for attacking reinforcement to replace the Egyptian icon.
