The most encouraging line in the report is that "both sides now expect Guimarães to become an Arsenal player." Supporters know these situations can still change, but when a deal reaches direct club-to-club talks and the asking price starts moving towards £70m to £80m, it becomes far more tangible.

There is every reason for Arsenal fans to be excited by the idea of adding a player of this calibre.
