Altay Bayindir is getting closer to completing a move away from Manchester United this summer. La Liga club Celta Vigo are set to sign the Turkey international.

United signed Bayindir from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023, but the shot-stopper has made just 17 appearances during his three years at Old Trafford. Bayindir joined United to serve as the understudy to Andre Onana, which was the case for his first two years at the club.

That changed last summer when Senne Lammens signed for the Red Devils and went on to become the club's new No.1 goalkeeper. It has now been reported by Metropolitano that Celta Vigo are on the brink of signing Bayindir on a loan basis from United, with the deal said to be almost entirely wrapped up in quick fashion. The same report suggests that the La Liga club are hopeful of formally announcing the agreement to sign Bayindir next week, with the goalkeeper anticipated to join his new squad at a training camp in Italy.

A separate report from Spanish publication AS claims that the 28-year-old is expected to undergo a medical to complete his move to Celta Vigo on either Sunday or Monday. Our sister title The Manchester Evening News reported on Saturday that Celta Vigo are leading the chase to secure Bayindir's signature, with the goalkeeper appearing increasingly likely to depart the club in the coming days.

Despite the mounting interest in Bayindir, United still included the Turkey international in their squad for Saturday night's pre-season friendly against Atletico Madrid in Sweden. Bryan Mbeumo netted twice as United secured a 2-1 triumph over the Spanish side in Stockholm on Saturday evening.

Speaking after the win, Carrick told MUTV: "The spirit and the camaraderie is so important for the team, it's great to see the boys getting on so naturally and enjoying each other's company. Collectively we looked strong as a team, which is always the most important thing, and individual performances seeing the young players come on to have an impact."

It remains unclear precisely when Bayindir's United departure could be announced, though all indications suggest the goalkeeper's stint at the club is drawing to a close, albeit via a loan arrangement.
