Former Preston North End man signs contract with Radcliffe

Radcliffe have signed versatile midfielder Josh Seary on a one-year deal following a successful trial period.

The 21-year-old can play a number of roles including centre midfield, right back, and right midfield.

Seary adds composure, dead-ball expertise, and a strong work ethic to the ranks, and will be hoping he can showcase his ability on a permanent basis after spending a large amount of pre-season named as a trialist.

Seary arrives after previously developing through the academy at Championship side Preston North End, where he established himself as one of the club's most promising young players, signing his first professional contract at the age of 16 before gaining valuable senior experience out on loan.

After featuring as a regular starter in the Northern Premier League with Warrington Town, Seary then crossed the Irish Sea in a temporary switch to NIFL Premiership outfit Larne, stepping over the white line in both domestic competition and the UEFA Conference League as he furthered his expertise in a title-challenging environment.

His eye-catching performances earned him opportunities around Preston's first-team squad, making his senior debut in the Carabao Cup before going on to make four Championship appearances.

Eligible to represent the Republic of Ireland, he has been involved with the Under-19 set-up internationally, highlighting the potential recognised throughout his development, and now joins the Boro ahead of our third campaign in the National League North.

In his first interview with the club, Seary said: "I'm delighted, ever since I came in all of the lads and the coaching staff were very welcoming and there's a good style of football that we want to play here.

"I like being comfortable on the ball and helping the team in any way I can, hopefully I can contribute to what we want to achieve this season.

"There's top players here who are really good lads, I felt that they took to me quite quick when I was on trial and I can't fault the way they've been with me so far.

"I'm looking forward to it and I can't wait for the season to get going and to meet the Boro faithful properly."

Josh will wear the number 12 shirt, last worn by former goalkeeper Mark Halstead throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
